Re:Hello! J! This is Flora from Taiwan!
Hello Flora,
Thank you for your kind letter, and of course you are very welcome for a stay here.
If I'm free than ? Well, being a teacher I have school from 8 am till 4 pm on working days. During the weekend I can join you on your visits. But the guestrooms are both available all the time. So you can even bring friend(s) with you, if that fits you.
I already have some appointments that I cannot cancel, but I'm sure we'll find a solution for you :
- Monday January 26 is my mothers birthday, she lives aside of me, I do have to go there for some time
- Wednesday 28 I have dancing class from 7.30 pm till 10.30 pm ; you can join me there if you want, but maybe it will be boring to you
- Saturday 31 from 6.20 pm till 9.20 pm I have dancing lessons, and you cannot join, sorry, this is for members only. But we'll find some alternative for you, no problem
My best friend in Couchsurfing is V, she lives near Bruges, and you can find her profile here on CS. She herself cannot host, but she loves to give my guests a guided citytour in Bruges and Ghent. She works part-time, normally she is not free on Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday. But if you contact her in time, she will try to change a little in her schedule, so that she can show you her cities. I strongly advice you to contact her, and ask her what she can offer you. Give her my best regards.
Can we make a programm for you during your stay in Belgium ? From where are you coming, what are your wishes in Belgium, for where are you leaving ? Will you use train for transportation ? Do you have special wishes about food (no beef, no meat(vegetarian ?), no tomatoes, no chocolates, no cheese, no ice-creams, no
brussels sprouts, no mussels (hey, my favourite !), no ....?). The more details you can give me, the more suggestions I can give you.
Best wishes with the preparations of your trip, hoping to hear from you.
J

Hello from Belgium
Hello Flora,
J took my attention to your profile..as you know maybe, J is a close friend. If you're coming to Belgium don’t skip Bruges (the most beautiful city of Belgium and called the Venice of the north);). If you like I can show you around there. It's a medieval city, an UNESCO heritage, rather small but with many things to see, the hidden, unbeaten paths and the "musts ". Of course it all depends on your interests when you plan to come. And of course I let you taste the fine chocolate and (if you like so) the very good beer of Bruges (don’t taste them together;)).I can write here a lot but you better can come and see;). You can also make a boat trip and there are nice parks and museums. Do you know that the stock exchange was invented in Bruges and that the house still exists?
I can show you around in Ghent too, if liked, another place worth to see. I studied there (centuries ago) and know the city pretty well. There's an historical centre and even a castle in the middle of the city and pretty places to go for a drink or such (it's a university city). The famous waffle from Brussels was invented by someone in Ghent , the place still exists and the waffles are backing there with the same recipe. There are also a lot of unbeaten paths.
And of course we will taste the fries (they are Belgian from origin and not French ..if you don't know the story I will tell you) and the famous waffles.
I'm always free on Monday, Friday, the weekend and 1 Wednesday on 2 but my work is very flexible so I can be free mostly every day (if nothing else planned yet) but if I know in advance I'm planning my schedule as well.
If you click on the picture in my profile (next to Bruges with the yellow flowers, daffodils, you will see some pictures I took from Bruges...the same for Ghent). Of course reality is always a lot better than pictures.
If interested just drop me a line
Anyway enjoy your travelling
V

Re: Hello! J! This is Flora from Taiwan!
Dear J&V,
At first, I really really appreciate your kind response and warmness!! However, maybe I can't visit Belgium because I've got caught by the largest number of passengers who have planned to travel abroad from Taiwan! Do you know "Chinese New Year", the vacation during New Year of the lunar calendar in Chinese culture? This vacation is from January 24th to February 1st. It's the biggest and the most important vacation for Taiwanese, and there are the hardest-estimated amounts of overseas traveling population during this time! Taiwan is an island, and people have to take a plane if they want to go abroad, of course me included. I'm also a teacher but have very few holidays. I couldn't make sure my days off from work until January 12th, the days before writing you. These two days, I tried hard to book the plane tickets but really in vain. Oh, what a pity!![](https://imageproxy.pixnet.cc/imgproxy?url=https://pic.wretch.cc/photos/icon/blog/smiley/msn/y20.gif)
You and your good friend, V, have given me a great and warm welcome to Belgium. I really hope my trip there can come true. Belgium is a wonderful, cute and friendly country. If I can't visit Belgium recently, I will go there in the future!
Sorry for spending you two some time replying me, and thank you so much!! I'll always remember your kindness! Besides, Taiwan is also a cute and great country. I'd love to invite you here and truly welcome both of you. Be my guest. :)
Sorry and thank you again.
